03.08.2023 - After consulting with Cincinnati Children's Hospital, it was determined that Ebonie needed to be flown to Cincinnati to be seen by their Cardiac specialist and getting specialized care. Less than 24 hours after collapsing Ebonie was on a helicopter headed to Cincinnati. Thankfully Ebonie's coach and E were there to get me safely to Cincinnati. Ebonie was taken to the heart cath lab where the worked to clear a blockage from her pulmonary artery and LAD (left anterior descending artery). While they were able to clear the PE the LAD was a bit more difficult than expected. The doctors at Cincinnati Children's Hospital contacted University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Ebonie was transferred within about 30 hours of the first hospital. Thankfully Coach B, E and my mom were all there to support me and anxiously wait for an update.
03.09.2023 - University of Cincinnati Medical Center, our new home for the foreseeable future, as Ebonie sees everyone from cardiac specialist, hematology, rheumatoid, infectious disease, neurology and so many other departments I have a hard time keeping them all straight. Ebonie was put on a ventilator and ECMO to try to give her heart time to heal. The next several days were a blur with everyone coming in to see why a young, healthy, active person was suddenly so sick.
